Riverside County CCW Renewal
DOJ-aligned 8-hour CCW renewal course for Riverside County permit holders. Refresh your training, complete the live-fire qualification, and submit your renewal application before your current permit expires.
When to renew your Riverside County CCW.
A California CCW permit is valid for 2 years from the date of issue. To avoid a lapse — and the more demanding 16-hour Initial course — you should complete your 8-hour Renewal training and submit your renewal application to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department before your permit expiration date.
We recommend booking your renewal class 60–90 days before your permit expires. That gives you time to complete the live-fire qualification and the issuing authority's processing window without having a gap in your carry rights.
What's covered in the 8-hour renewal.
Penal code changes, AB and SB updates affecting concealed carry since your last certification.
Justifications, deadly force standards, post-incident protocols, civil and criminal exposure.
Holster selection, on-body vs off-body carry, vehicle and home storage best practices.
On-range qualification with the firearm(s) on your permit. Same standards as your initial qualification.
Where your California CCW is honored, and what changes in other states since your last training.
SB 2 sensitive places, federal facilities, and current California prohibited-location list.
Riverside County renewal fees and process.
Riverside County does not require a psychological evaluation at renewal. Application/issuance fees through RSO are typically around $200, paid directly to the Sheriff's Department. Renewal applications are filed online through the Riverside County CCW portal.
Course tuition and live-fire range fees are paid separately. Live-fire is typically $75–$150 depending on the range and number of firearms qualified. We help you book your live-fire with a vetted instructor near you and submit the required paperwork to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
